AI Regulatory Compliance (EU AI Act)
We help companies navigate the world’s first comprehensive AI law – the EU Artificial Intelligence Act – and other emerging AI regulations globally. The EU AI Act (expected to take effect by 2025–2026) establishes a risk-based framework classifying AI systems as prohibited, high-risk, limited-risk, or minimal-risk, with obligations corresponding to the risk level. Our team will determine how your AI system is categorized and what legal requirements apply. For high-risk AI (e.g. AI used in finance, hiring, medical devices), we assist in meeting stringent requirements: setting up a risk management system, ensuring high-quality training data to avoid bias, documentation and record-keeping of the model’s design and testing, providing proper human oversight mechanisms, and registering the system in the EU database . We also ensure you’re prepared for the AI Act’s conformity assessment (some AI systems will require certification/CE marking before deployment). Additionally, we advise on transparency obligations – for example, if you use AI that interacts with consumers (like chatbots or deepfake generators), the law may require informing users that they are interacting with AI.
Data Privacy and AI
AI systems often process large volumes of data, potentially including personal data. We ensure that your AI operations respect data protection laws like the GDPR. If your AI makes decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on people (such as credit scoring or recruitment filters), we guide you on providing required notices and ensuring human review options in line with GDPR automated decision rules. Moreover, we navigate issues of data minimization and anonymization – helping you find the balance between feeding AI with enough data and not violating privacy principles.
Intellectual Property in AI
With AI, new types of legal liability can arise – for example, if an autonomous system causes harm or if an algorithm’s decision leads to loss.
