Big news from Willemstad: the entire Board of Commissioners of the Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) resigned in mid-September, leaving the island’s gambling regulator without formal oversight.
❔ Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas has since stepped in to meet with CGA management - the authority officially falls under Finance Minister Javier Silvania.
💼 With no supervisory board in place and questions over who’s really in charge, Curaçao’s ambitious gaming reforms could face serious delays.
⚖️ Why it matters:
• No board = no proper oversight.
• Legal uncertainty over CGA’s structure and decisions.
• Risk to investor confidence and the island’s reputation as a regulated hub.
Curaçao has a real chance to strengthen its governance - but it needs transparency, clear leadership, and a stable regulatory framework to do so.
🔍 What’s your take - is this a temporary hiccup or a deeper governance issue?
